Match preview: Arbroath v Exeter City

The Grecians’ second and final game in Scotland comes at Gayfield Park on Thursday evening, as Arbroath take on the role as hosts for the friendly fixture.

The Red Lichties should pose a similar test as East Fife did earlier in the week – and new gaffer Todd Lumsden is aiming to prepare a team capable of surpassing last season’s achievement of reaching the Scottish League 2 play-offs, where they missed out on promotion.

The Angus-based side kick off their league campaign on the same weekend as Exeter City, and they will face another ECFC on the opening weekend – that is, Elgin City.

Once again, the result will come second to getting game-time for City players and the hope of staying injury-free.

However the competitive spirit will certainly mean that Exeter, who drew 1-1 in East Fife, will be hopeful of heading back to Devon on Friday with a win under the belt.
