And so it begins again – after a couple of months away from the pitch, football is back for Exeter City as the team face East Fife in the first pre-season friendly at Bayview on Tuesday.
Travel to the east coast of Scotland will be a little less arduous than last summer’s visit to the east coast of Brazil – but hopefully it’ll offer the squad a chance to tighten their bonds.
It’ll be a rapid turnaround for the Grecians, who fly up to Edinburgh earlier the same day, and there’ll be a lot to squeeze in to the trip with a visit to Arbroath two days later.
The Fifers, who began their games programme for the summer period with a 3-0 home defeat to Dunfermline on Saturday, are managed by former Everton and Sheffield United full-back Gary Naysmith – who, at the age of 36, is still registered as a player. He is approaching his second anniversary in his first managerial role.
They also currently play in Scottish League 2 – a fourth-placed finish last season paved access to the play-offs, but a semi-final defeat over two legs to Stenhousemuir confined the side to another season in the fourth tier.
With both teams beginning to gear up for the big kick-off on 8th August – East Fife away at East Stirlingshire, and Exeter City at home to Yeovil Town – there’ll be a good competitive spirit to the fixture
Tickets for this fixture should be bought on the evening of the game at Bayview. Click here for admission information.
