Forward looking forward to Woodspring Stadium return
Exeter City forward Ollie Watkins is looking forward to visiting Weston-super-Mare at the Woodspring Stadium on Wednesday, where he spent a prolific spell on loan last year.In his maiden season as a pro footballer, game-time with Exeter was limited. However his loan stint in Somerset allowed him to get some more regular appearances in. Ultimately he netted ten times for the Conference South side, and fellow Grecians Matt Jay and Jordan Tillson also spent spells with the Somerset outfit.
The loan represented a first regular spell of open-age football for the City Academy graduate, and he felt that it was a beneficial period for him.
“I know the boys there – they’re a great bunch of lads, and I’m looking forward to going up there and playing well,” said Watkins ahead of the game.
“I’m looking forward to seeing a few of their faces and it’ll be good to play against them.
“It was good to get some games under my belt [with Weston]. If you’re not in the first team, then it’s always good to go out on loan and get some games under your belt.
“It was my first loan spell playing men’s football, and it was a good few months for me.”
