Exeter City were saddened to learn that Paul Smith, former Lord Mayor of Exeter, passed away on Monday 13th July 2015.
A hugely dedicated Exeter City supporter, his appointment to the position of Lord Mayor in 2008 was shortly followed by the Grecians’ Conference play-off final victory at Wembley, and a year later Exeter completed back-to-back promotions to reach League 1. On both occasions, Paul was able to host receptions for the club at the Guildhall following celebratory open-top bus rides through Exeter.
Paul’s wake will be held at the club after a funeral service on a date to be arranged – it will be his last visit to the hospitality suite where he was so regularly welcomed on matchdays St James Park.
We wish to pass our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this time.
