Blades coming to St James Park
Exeter City are delighted to be welcoming Sheffield United to St James Park for a pre-season friendly on Thursday 23rd July 2015 (kick-off 7.30pm).The Blades narrowly missed out on a trip to Wembley at the end of last season, as they were defeated 7-6 on aggregate in a remarkable Sky Bet League 1 play-off semi-final with Swindon Town. Nigel Adkins, who visited in pre-season last year as Reading manager, was recently appointed to the helm at Bramall Lane.
The Thursday-night fixture will offer both clubs an opportunity to continue their preparations for the 2015/16 season, which kicks off on Saturday 8th August 2015.
St James Park hosted this fixture in the Football League as recently as the 2011/12 campaign, when they played out a 2-2 draw on the final day of the season. Earlier in the year, the Blades and the Grecians had shared the spoils in an entertaining 4-4 game at Bramall Lane.
It is the third home friendly fixture which has been confirmed for Exeter – AFC Bournemouth come to the Park on Saturday 18th July, before Fluminense Under-19 visit on Monday 20th July. The Grecians also have friendlies scheduled away at East Fife, Arbroath, Weston-super-Mare, Torquay United and AFC St Austell.
Ticketing information for this game will be announced closer to the date of the game.
