Grecians youngster to represent Young Lions in international tournament
Exeter City Academy prospect Ethan Ampadu has been called into the England Under-15 squad to feature in the Torneo Delle Nazioni 2015.Ampadu has previously been involved in an England Under-15 training camp, as well as captaining the Welsh Under-15 team and representing Wales competitively at Under-16 level. Last year he helped the Young Dragons to a clean sweep of wins against England, Scotland and Northern Ireland as Wales were crowned outright Victory Shield champions for only the second time.
And now Ampadu, 14, will link up with the rest of the Young Lions’ Under-15 squad next month before travelling to their base in Italy, with the Torneo Delle Nazioni due to open on Friday 24th April. He will become the third Exeter City player to represent England at youth international level this season, following appearances for the Under-20 team by Matt Grimes and Christy Pym.
The 12-nation tournament, which takes place in venues across three countries near the intersection of the Italian, Austrian and Slovenian borders, is in its 12th year and sees some of the brightest under-15 from all corners of the globe in action.
England are pooled in Group A with Italy, Egypt and Japan, while representatives from Austria, Brazil, United Arab Emirates and Mexico will compete in Group B, and Slovenia, Croatia, Costa Rica and USA will contest Group C.
The countries will all contest their group fixtures over the course of four days, before semi-finals take place on Wednesday 29th April and finals on Friday 1st May.
