Exeter City have today completed the signing of Lee Holmes on loan from Preston North End.The 27-year-old, who was on loan with Portsmouth earlier this season, will be a Grecian until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
Holmes began his career with six years as a pro at Derby County, just down the road from his hometown of Mansfield, and then spent a further four years on the books at Southampton. He moved to Deepdale in 2012.
The midfielder was an England youth international until Under-19 level, and has also represented Bradford, Walsall, Oxford and Swindon in temporary spells during his career, helping the latter to the League 2 title in 2012.
He has also been a teammate of several other Exeter City players before – Holmes played with Matt Oakley at Derby, with Danny Butterfield at Southampton, and most recently he was a colleague of Graham Cummins at Preston.
Subject to clearance from the Football Association and the Football League, Holmes will be available for selection in Exeter’s fixture against Stevenage at St James Park tomorrow, and will wear the number 16 shirt.
