RGB Building Supplies and ECFC Host World Cup hero at Mercure Rougemont Hotel
EXETER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB and RGB Building Supplies were delighted to host England legend Gordon Banks recently at the Rougemont Hotel. On a memorable evening, the world’s most famous goalkeeper and one of only nine surviving members of the England 1966 World Cup-winning team held the spellbound audience in his hand as he recounted the inside story of his career and triumphs.
You could have heard a pin drop as Gordon's captivated audience listened intently as he went from humble Yorkshire schoolboy to the maker of the most famous save in world football during the 1970 World Cup, picking up a World Cup winners' medal along the way.
Gordon clearly showed on the night all the grit and determination, plus star quality, that drove him to the very pinnacle of his profession. Kevin Fenlon, the Managing Director and CEO of RGB Building Supplies said: "We are proud to have been able to make such an memorable evening possible. We do many things as a company with Exeter City Football Club, one of our prime business partners, but this has to be a highlight."
Mark Jenkins, the Grecians' Head of Commercial added: "It was in so many ways a perfect evening and we thank both RGB Building Supplies for its support in making the event possible and also the audience, who responded brilliantly to the occasion. We have brought Jimmy Greaves, Pat Jennings and Alan Gilzean in the recent past to Exeter and will shortly be adding Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles to that hugely impressive list. However, Gordon Banks showed us all on the night why he was the world’s best and it was an event of which we are all very proud."
