Opposition In Focus: Mansfield Town

A closer look at the Stags

THE GRECIANS are back in action at St James Park this evening, welcoming Mansfield Town as Paul Tisdale's side continue their pursuit of the play-offs.

City endured a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the weekend against newly-crowned Sky Bet League 2 champions Northampton Town.

With that result now behind them, Tisdale's men are fully focused on the Stags, who travel to the south-west confident after beating Notts County 5-0 in the Nottinghamshire derby on Saturday.

TOWN BUILDING MOMENTUM

Having failed to win any of their five March fixtures, the Stags have sealed two consecutive wins, with the first a 2-1 away victory at Carlisle United.

The two positive results leaves them thirteenth in the league, six points behind AFC Wimbledon in seventh.

Despite their excellent derby win, manager Adam Murray is aware of threat that the Grecians can pose and is keen to keep his players focused.

According to Town's official website following the 5-0 win, Murray told his players to “enjoy the moment” but reminded them there is still work to be done.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS BETWEEN THE GRECIANS AND THE STAGS

City will be looking to make it three consecutive wins over Town. The sides last met in November, and it turned out to be a good day for City as Joel Grant and Lee Holmes notched goals in the first half to put the game beyond Mansfield.

With just two home games remaining this season City have to take maximum points and hopefully gain two wins from two on home turf. Let's fill the Park for the last game in front of the lights this season!
