Exeter City manager says it is chance for club to put on another good night at St James Park
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale says the EFL Cup draw offers them a chance to put on another good night at St James Park.City, who hosted Liverpool in the FA Cup last January on a Friday night, were drawn at home to Hull City in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The tie is likely to be played on Tuesday, August 23 - unless the tie gets moved for TV scheduling - and Tis is looking forward to the game.
“It is great to be in the next round and it is a Premier League club at at home, so we are really looking forward to it,” he said. “Who knows how Hull will approach the game, but for us it will be another opportunity to put on another good night at St James Park.”
Tom McCready scored one of three goals at Premier League Sunderland for the Grecians at this stage of the competition last season and the former Everton youngsters is also eagerly anticipating the tie although he admits they’ve a few important league games to concentrate on first.
“It is going to be another good challenge,” he said. “They (Hull) are going to be a good team as they were promoted last season and they are now in the Prem. That is the point of the cup games to get these big teams and have these big games, so we are really looking forward to it.
“However, we have got a lot of important games between then that we cannot take our focus off at all so it is on the back-burner for now, but when it comes around it is going to be another good occasion.”
Ticket details for the match have yet to be released.
