A closer look at the Boro
THE GRECIANS are looking to put a disappointing week behind them as they travel to Broadhall Way to play Stevenage, who are currently 19th in Sky Bet League 2.Boro look to be in a reasonably comfortable position and are not likely to be dragged into a relegation fight for at least a few weeks, as they find themselves eight points clear of the drop zone.
Like City, the home side will be looking to get back to winning ways after they were beaten 1-0 by Carlisle last time out. That match came off the back of two victories against Cambridge United and Hartlepool.
Chris Whelpdale is Stevenage’s top goalscorer this season with nine, followed by Fraser Franks and Charlie Lee, who have both registered three strikes this term.
The two sides last met back in October in a thrilling 3-3 draw which saw Boro equalise in stoppage-time. David Wheeler (2) and Clinton Morrison were on the scoresheet for the Grecians.
Previous meetings with Stevenage
The sides have met just six times before and have registered four draws with both clubs victorious on one occasion each.
The Grecians first met Boro in 2007 in an FA Cup tie which saw City thump their opponents 4-0 at St James Park.
The sides then met in League 1 in 2011 and played out a 0-0 draw, they then met in the return fixture that season at St James Park which ended 1-1.
With both sides finding themselves in League 2, City were narrowly beaten 1-0 in December 2014. The next two fixtures also ended in draws with the first once again a 0-0 result and the second being that 3-3 thriller.
