Tis: A Difficult Day To Play Football

Grecians boss reacts to Newport point

EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale was left frustrated by his side’s failure to negotiate challenging conditions at St James Park.

Jordan Tillson opened the scoring with an acrobatic finish early in the second half, but City were pegged back by Scott Boden’s headed goal just six minutes from time.

"It was a really difficult day to play football and we didn’t play as well as I would have hoped. Those were difficult conditions, but I still would have hoped for more, especially in the first half. We have got a point, though, and I'm grateful for that, because the game was in the balance at times.

"We had a very strong breeze in the first half and didnt' use it. The conditions were difficult in terms of the surface, but I felt that we overcomplicated it. You just have to be hard on the pitch and put pressure on the opposition. I just didn't think that we used the conditions as well as they did.

"It was a very good finish from Jordan [Tillson]. It was no surprise that the first goal today came from a set-piece, so well done Jordan. He had a good game today, and for a young player playing in that new position in midfield, he kept up quite well today.

"We were holding onto the three points, but we couldn't quite do it. There was a lot of pressure on us in that final half an hour."
