Grecians boss reacts to Stevenage win
EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale praised his side’s resolve as they ran out 2-0 winners over Stevenage at the Lamex. Two late goals from sub Jayden Stockley handed the Grecians their first win in five games and just their second ever win at Broadhall Way.
"It was a good, solid performance," Paul said. "The result was everything to us today and I would have taken a 0-0. There was resolve and team unity today and I picked a team that was going to give me options from the bench late in the game, but it was an experienced eleven. We tried to cover the areas on the pitch.
"The first half was actually very difficult; there was a strong breeze and we got stuck in our half. Sometimes that focuses the mind, gives the team intent and galvanises the team into a workman-like performance, and that’s exactly what happened today. We got the late goal on the counter-attack and we ended up with a win.
"Bobby [Olejnik]'s performance was as good as I’ve seen; he was very competent in all areas and it was an incredibly solid performance. The saves are one thing, but having a solid performance like he did today was the key to it.
"It’s been a very difficult week; we huffed and puffed against Newport last Saturday. We went into Oxford and it was as flat as performance I’ve had as Exeter manager, so it was vitally important today that we responded."
