Kick-off: 7:45pm

Exeter City kick-off their 2016/17 pre-season schedule with a short trip down the south-coast to face Weymouth on Friday evening.

Jason Matthews’ side will be looking to go one better this campaign having finished on the coattails of the Southern League Premier Division play-off positions for each of the past two seasons. It was final-day agony for the Terras last term as defeat at Chesham United saw them narrowly miss out on a coveted top-five position.

Weymouth FC wins: 2

Last Meeting:

WEYMOUTH FC 3-1 EXETER CITY, WESSEX STADIUM (24 MARCH 2008)

The Grecians suffered defeat in the last meeting between the two sides over eight years ago, as second-half strikes from Simon Weatherstone and Michael Malcolm handed the Terras all three points in the National League clash.

Former City favorite Rob Edwards battles for the ball with Weymouth's Pierre Joseph-Dubois.

View from the dugout:

“It’ll be great to shake off the cobwebs and begin to create some working relationships on the pitch, which will be very important come Blackpool away. It’ll be a competitive test, and up to twenty-four players will be given a run-out on the day.

“Training is going well. We’re covering as many areas as possible – pre-season’s not solely about fitness anymore.” - Paul Tisdale

Classic Encounter:

EXETER CITY 4-0 WEYMOUTH FC (23 JANUARY 2007)
