Exeter City's manager gives his verdict on the 3-0 victory over Cardiff and assess the injuries to Jordan Moore-Taylor and Lee Holmes
Paul Tisdale has said that it is too early to tell the extent of the injuries to Jordan Moore-Taylor and Lee Holmes following their pre-season victory over Cardiff City. Both players picked up ankle injuries following second-half challenges from Cardiff players, but Tisdale could not give supporters an indication on how long the pair would be out for.
“It is too early to tell,” he said. “They are both ankle injuries. It could be anything from four days, to four weeks, to four months, you just don’t know until you have them in the next day and you see the reaction from it.
“We will keep their feet up and do everything we can to reduce swelling. Let’s just hope it’s a minor ligament strain and it won’t be anything more than a couple of weeks.”
Speaking about the 3-0 victory and pre-season as a whole, Tis added:
“It was a good game and a good performance. It was the same sort of team and same setup – nothing clever – but we looked reasonably efficient.
“We have still got some sharpening to do. There are some areas of our game, which need focus, but over the past four weeks I’ve been delighted with the way the players have performed.”
City goals came from Holmes, in the first half, and double from Robbie Simpson.
However, Tisdale is not getting carried away with a run of seven straight victories and five clean sheets in pre-season.
“It will all count for nothing if it comes to Blackpool next week and Brentford and Hartlepool and we don’t do the business. But we can only do what we can do. We have kept some clean sheets; we have won our games and it can do no harm.
“It is better than losing, but football has a nasty way of catching you out when you get a little bit too pleased with yourselves. So, we certainly can’t think we are great, we’ve done it.”
