EFL CUP: City draw Brentford at home

City to host the Bees

Exeter City have been drawn against Brentford at St James Park in the first round of the EFL Cup.

The Grecians last faced Brentford in March 2012, a game which the Grecians lost 2-0 thanks to a brace from current West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

The first round of fixtures are due to played in the week commencing 8th August 2016. The exact date, fixture time and ticket details for the game will be released in due course once the television games have been selected.

In a first for British football, the EFL (English Football League) joined forces with Sky Sports to live stream the EFL Cup Round One draw as a Facebook Live event today at 1pm. The event provided millions of fans at home and abroad the chance to watch the draw unfold live.

Round One of the re-named cup competition includes 70 of the 72 EFL clubs this season, with the draw being seeded as well as regionalised on a north/south basis. Seedings are based on club finishing positions in the league last season.
