A great comeback win led to some brilliant last-minute celebrations at the Centre Spot Sports Bar.
DESPITE BEING welcoming to everybody, the punters' allegiance for the England vs Wales game on Thursday was clearly in favour of the Three Lions at the Centre Spot. The awkward lunchtime kick-off time didn't stop people from coming to see Roy Hodgson's men at Exeter City, with even more fans coming to support the national team than on Saturday evening. This led to some great scenes when Daniel Sturridge scored the winner deep into stoppage time; with one fan, draped in a St George's flag on his back, weaving through the multitude of delirious supporters. One fan on Twitter said: "GR8 [sic] time at Spot best Thursday ever @ ECFC thanks to staff for sorting a tip top city day".
During the game the Centre Spot was linked up with City supporters on holiday at Villa Rena on Andros Island in Greece. There was plenty of curiosity from both sides as people took the time to say hello to each other via the Internet. One fan in Andros said "It felt like we were also at the Centre Spot", whilst a couple of Nottingham Forest fans at Villa Rena also praised the idea. Avid City fan and Andros local Dinos Papachristos even won over 500€ after Grecians fans helped him pick his bet! There will be another link up for Monday's game against Slovakia.
The Centre Spot team would like to thank everyone who came to watch the game on Thursday and for making it such an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We would also like to thank the fans in Andros for linking up with us and the contingent from the Exeter City Ladies who came along to support the Three Lions. We hope to see you all again on Monday when England face Slovakia in their final Euro 2016 group game.
