Former Truro City midfielder to succeed Lee Skyrme
EXETER CITY are pleased to confirm that Dan Green has been appointed as the club's new Under-18s coach.Dan, who assumes the position following the departure of Lee Skyrme, has previous experience of coaching at the City academy.
A former midfielder, he recently finished playing with Truro City.
He will be tasked with continuing the academy's record of bringing promising youngsters through to the Exeter City first-team
"I'm very fortunate to be taking over from Lee," Dan said. "It's been good working with the players before at the younger age groups, and it'll be good to work with them in their two years as scholars.
"I worked with Lee a lot in his time here, and learned a lot from him. I've got a lot of ideas myself, and I'm looking forward to taking it on. I was playing for Truro up until this month, but this was an opportunity that I couldn't turn down. I'm really excited about the opportunity, and I can't wait to get started.
Academy Manager Simon Hayward added: "Dan has worked with us for six or seven years now. He was a player playing under and working with Kwame Ampadu and I when we first took over the under-18s, so Dan is somebody that we've known both as a player and a coach for nearly ten years.
"We're expecting him to continue to show the passion and dedication that he has done over that time; he's a fantastic learner who wants to study the game and improve his game, so if he continues, I'm very confident that he'll follow in the footsteps of Kwame and Lee, and then hopefully at some point move onto something bigger and better. We hope that he helps to produce the next Matt Grimes, Jordan Moore-Taylor and Ollie Watkins."
