Fans, supporter groups and sponsors go the extra mile to support fundraising appeal
Exeter City fans, supporter groups and sponsors have yet again gone the extra mile to support the Club’s appeal to fund 40 GPS fitness tracking kits for the first team and U21s.The target has now been reached and the GPS kits have been ordered. As a thanks to those who have directly sponsored a player’s kit their names will be appear on the kit sponsors page of the matchday programme. Further to this, an event will be hosted at St James Park with physio Ade Saunderson giving a hands on demo of the equipment and a Q&A session which all who have donated will be invited to.
The new GPS Tracking equipment is paramount in keeping up to date with the evolving science of training and monitoring of the squad; allowing the physio team to ensure the squad is not under or over trained, reducing the risk of overuse injuries and monitoring improvements in the performance of players.
Ade Saunderson, Exeter City Physio said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has donated to the appeal. We will be able to monitor training, matches and player position on the pitch, helping to optimise fitness and recovery, improve performance and reduce injury. The equipment will put us in line with other teams in our league and above”
Elaine Davis, Supporters’ Trust board member and Grecian Goal fundraiser said: “I’m delighted by the support and response the club has received with the appeal. I’m looking forward to seeing how the technology works and how it benefits the team”
Speaking on behalf of Exeter City, Chairman Julian Tagg said “The GPS kits are vital in the analysis, and development of the playing squad going forward and it is great that fans, supporter groups and sponsors can see the importance and the value they will bring. My special thanks must go out to Elaine for her hard work and commitment to the appeal”
