Journalists make the headlines again!
The latest Exeter City quiz, the Ultimate Quiz, reached its climax after five nights of qualifying and competition this week in an intense evening at the club when many brains were frazzled by the fiendish questions posed by quizmaster, Norman Warne!
The unique quiz, where teams compete in matches against each other in mini leagues, with promotion and relegation throughout, saw the Echo Hacks (from the Express & Echo) emerge from the pack to secure the top prize of the Flybe flights. The newspaper's Exeter City reporter David Byrom is pictured with their trophy, alongside the volunteers who made the quiz happen, and his teammates (left to right) Howard Lloyd, Alex Richards, Damien Mills and Gordon Richardson.
There were prizes for all four league winners, including Wagamama restaurant vouchers, foot golf and Thatchers special reserve fizz, won by PKF FC, Retexe and Chumps!
There is nothing like this quiz anywhere around and Norman and his team put an incredible amount of effort into making the quiz as good as it is. The club would like to thank them wholeheartedly for this. They have been setting quizzes at the club for 13 years now and we’re lucky to be the beneficiaries of such hard work. If the rousing round of applause at the end of the night was anything to go by, the contestants certainly felt the same – and probably learnt more about the landmarks of Exeter too!
Bringing over 100 people to the club each night, the quiz helps raise awareness of the facilities available for conferences, meetings and parties. The entry fees and the generously bought raffle tickets all added up to a tidy sum raised for the Club and thanks go to all for this and for taking part too.
Hopefully, given time for brains to recover, teams will be back for another crack at the Ultimate Quiz next year!
