Estates manager Clive Pring is looking for a group of willing and able volunteers to help with putting on and removing covers on the St James Park pitch this winter.
The covers help protect the pitch from frost, and hopefully avoid any postponements of matches during the winter period.
The covers are large in size, and heavy so it is a very physical activity - perfect for burning off those extra mince pies this Christmas!
The grounds team plan to have a dress rehersal before Christmas, and will be required to be put and taken off before matches, or at short notice if the weather changes drastically.
