Exeter City sign striker Ryan Swan

Former UCD player joins on deal until the end of the season

Exeter City have signed striker Ryan Swan on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The former UCD (University of College Dublin) forward put pen to paper on a contract at St James Park having impressed on a trial at the club in November.

The 20-year-old started his football career at Tolka Rovers and made his League of Ireland bow with Bray Wanderers, where he became friends with current City player Pierce Sweeney.

He then moved to UCD at the start of the 2015 season and managed to score 18 goals for the Students in 54 First Division appearances. He also netted three times in the Europa League in 2015.

Speaking about the deal, Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale, said: “He’s signed until the end of the season. It gives him an opportunity between now and May to earn a longer contract and it gives us an opportunity to look at him to possibly add into the squad for next season. The bottom line is that it’s a period of time for both of us to look at each other and see if we can turn this into a longer-term situation.”

Everyone at Exeter City welcomes Ryan to the squad.
