Could you be the next Pym, Olejnik or Hamon?
Due to high levels of interest the recently advertised Goalkeeper Open Trials are now fully booked.The Exeter City FC academy invites goalkeepers from under-7s to under-16s to register for FREE open trials and be coached by City’s first-team goalkeepers Christy Pym, James Hamon and Bobby Olejnik.
The trials will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, January 29 at the Cliff Hill Training Ground, Sidmouth Road, Clyst St Mary, Exeter, EX5 1DP.
Not only will attendees be taught by the Grecians’ goalkeeping team, but they will also train on the brand new 3G pitch at the Cliff Hill Training Ground, the first of its kind across the country.
Players attending the GK open trials will have the chance to be selected for a place within the Exeter City FC player pathway.
Christy Pym joined the Exeter City FC academy at under-10 level, from local grassroots football, and progressed through the ranks to sign a professional contract. Christy quickly earned his reputation as one of the country’s most talented young goalkeepers, and was selected to represent England under-20s alongside former City favourite, Matt Grimes.
Christy said “I joined the Exeter City FC academy at the age of nine and thoroughly enjoyed my time working under the coaches. The training was always hard work but fun and the techniques I was taught during my time at the academy have helped me to become the keeper I am today.
“The academy provided me with opportunities to play against the best Premier League teams and those are memories I won’t forget. This also prepared me for playing first-team football, and for England under-20s.
“I look forward to seeing as many young goalkeepers as possible at the open trials.”
The trials are likely to be held from 2.00pm-4.00pm on Sunday, January 29, with registration taking place between 2.00pm-2.15pm. (Players and parents CANNOT arrive before 1.45pm due to academy fixtures). All interested players MUST register their interest before attending.
