Club statement following incident at Taunton Town on Thursday night where a smoke pellet was let-off.
Following Thursday night’s pre-season friendly with Taunton Town, in which a red smoke pellet was let off in the stand behind one of the goals, Exeter City would like to place on record that, while it is wholly supportive of the fantastic efforts that the Red Legion and the supporters put in to create an atmosphere on match days, it has no alternative to have anything other than a zero-tolerance approach to the letting off of smoke devices in football grounds.
On behalf of the fans, the club would like to apologise to Taunton Town and to any supporters at the game for the disturbance, and the difficulties with the authorities, this incident may have caused. We will be investigating this matter further and will take appropriate action against the individuals involved.
