Former Grecian Dean Moxey is currently training with Exeter City with a view to completing a move to St James Park.
The former Premier League defender, who left Bolton Wanderers this summer, joined up with the Grecians at the Cliff Hill training ground on Monday and completed a medical that evening.
Dean, born in Exeter, broke into the Grecians first team in October 2003 and played around 200 games for the club as City gained promotion from the Football Conference to League One.
He went onto join Derby County in the summer of 2009, before playing earning promotion to the Premier League with Crystal Palace in 2013 and enjoying a three-year spell at Bolton Wanderers.
There are still a few formalities to be sorted out but the club hope to announce the signing soon.
