Rhythm of Life Choir win Sing for your City

Choir to perform at City's home match against Carlisle United

Exeter City hosted the inaugural ‘Sing for your City’, in the grand marquee at St James Park on Saturday, April 29.

Prior to the event, local artists had sent in one-minute clips of them performing to win the chance to perform at City’s final match of the season.

The entries were shortlisted to seven finalists, who took to the stage on the night to compete for the title of 2017 winner.

The evening was kindly sponsored by Exeter College and supported by Radio Exe, Stage Engage and Western Event Hire. The host for the night was Radio Exe presenter Paul Nero, who took to the stage to welcome the acts to perform their chosen song

Acts that performed were:
  • Leave before dawn
  • Chloe Brooks-Herbert
  • Scarlett Williams
  • Sadie Horler
  • The Rhythm of Life Choir
  • Claudia Quartly
  • Cameron Lemmer
Four judges sat on the panel to determine who should be crowned the winner and runner-up.

The overall winner was The Rhythm of Life Choir, who, with 30 vocalists impressed the judges with their unity, passion and take on modern songs. The runner-up was singer-songwriter Sadie Horler.

The Rhythm of Life Choir performed at the end-of-season gala ball, and will be performing before City’s play-off semi-final second leg against Carlisle United on Thursday, May 18.
