With just 10 days to go until Matt Taylor's side kick of the season against Carlisle, ‘The 1000th Goal’ project counts you down to the game with a look back at some of the most iconic goals scored under supporters' ownership.
The 1,000th goal project has been set up as the Trust will more than likely be celebrating reaching 1,000 league goals under supporters ownership this coming season. The tally currently stands at 982 league goals, including play-offs.
To commemorate the landmark, The Trust, the club and Grecian Archive will be creating a range of content through a number of channels over the course of the season.
We start, with this countdown and with the very first goal since The Trust took control of the club. Having scored the winner on the final day of the season before, Steve Flack opened the scoring in City's 2003/04 curtain-raiser against Halifax Town. Kwame Ampadu's floated cross was met by Flack at the far post, who rose highest to head home past Clint Davies on 24 minutes. Lewis Killeen would later go on to equalise for the visitors with just five minutes to go as the Grecians kicked off their stay in the Conference with a 1-1 draw.
