Defender Dean Moxey says Exeter City will have to be on their game on Bank Holiday Monday if they are to record a victory against Coventry City in the EFL Sky Bet League Two play-off final.
The Grecians booked their place at Wembley with a stunning 3-1 victory over Lincoln City, but Coventry were equally as impressive in their semi-final against Notts County - drawing 1-1 at the Ricoh before dispatching of Kevin Nolan’s side 4-1 in the second leg at Meadow Lane.
Speaking about that second leg, Dean said: “They (Notts County and Coventry) were two good teams and we knew they were going to be that.
“We knew that whoever came out on top in that game we would be ready for. Coventry played well and Notts County probably got unlucky with a couple of decisions. However, they (Coventry) are a very good team and we are going to have to be on our game.”
Dean has won two play-off finals during the career. The first came at City in 2008 when he helped the Grecians back into the Football League with a 1-0 win over Cambridge United and the second arrived while he was at Crystal Palace, in 2013, when they beat Watford United 1-0 at Wembley to book their place in the Premier League.
So having played in big games like this before what advice would he have to young Exeter City players who are playing in their first League Two play-off final.
“You have got to take it all in and enjoy it and play without fear, like I am sure they will,” he said. “It is obviously a big game, but you have got to stick to your gameplan and fingers crossed we can do as well as we can on Monday.”
