Dara O’Shea has been nominated for the Checkatrade.com Trophy player of the round.
The nomination, which covers all three group games, is a fan-voted award with supporters able to pick their player of the round by clicking on the following link.
Dara, who is on loan to Exeter City from West Bromwich Albion, has been superb in all three of the Grecians’ Checkatrade.com Trophy matches this season helping the team to clean sheets against Yeovil Town, West Ham United under-21s and Bristol Rovers.
As well as his strong defensive performances, his confidence in possession and the ability to bring the ball out from the back has helped the Grecians spring many attacks and he came close to getting his first goal in senior football when he forced Bristol Rovers keeper Adam Smith into a smart save with a powerful header. Dara’s displays in the competition have also helped him secure a spot in City’s starting XI in recent weeks, with him playing the full 90 minutes against Blackpool, in the Emirates FA Cup first round, and Northampton Town, in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.
Dara is up against the following players in the fan-voted award:
Ade Azeez - Cambridge United
Calum Butcher - Mansfield Town
Aaron Connolly - Brighton & Hove Albion under-21s
Luke Matheson - Rochdale
Toby Stevenson - Charlton Athletic
Voting closes at midday on Friday, November 23.
