Exeter City right-back Pierce Sweeney has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two player-of-the-month award following a string of fine performances in September.
The popular defender scored three goals in six games, including a double against Notts County that helped the Grecians to a 5-1 victory over Harry Kewell's team. Pierce also got an assist in that match.
Pierce followed that performance up with another man-of-the-match display against Mansfield Town where he helped set up both of City's goals in a 2-1 victory as well as being superb from a defensive point of view as the Grecians soaked up a lot of pressure from the home side.
Then in the next match at St James Park, with the Grecians trialing 1-0 at the break, Pierce produced a stunning volley to get City back on level terms before helping them to a 3-1 victory.
Pierce proved his reliability from a defensive point of view, again, last week as the Grecians came away from Vale Park with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
The other players nominated for the Sky Bet League Two player of the month for September are: Luke Norris (Colchester), Jason Shackell (Lincoln City) and Sam Surridge (Oldham Athletic).
