Exeter City defender Pierce Sweeney says there is a buzz around the City camp following recent good form.
City have won their last three league matches and also beat West Ham United’s under-21 side in the Checkatrade Trophy recently, and the full back admits that the wins have helped bring about a good spirit around the camp.
He said: “It’s good, the boys are in good form, as we deserve to be. The place is buzzing a little bit, so we’re looking to go again on Saturday and keep the form up.”
Pierce played 45 minutes in the win over West Ham under-21s on Tuesday, and he explained that the side were pleased to claim the win as they made a number of personnel changes.
“We’ve got a good squad, so it doesn’t matter what team we put out because we’ve got good players and we’re all confident at the moment. It’s not a surprise that we played well, and we got a clean sheet and scored two good goals.”
Nonetheless Pierce also believes that despite the good run, the side are wary of the threat that Vale will pose to the Grecians in Staffordshire.
“It will be a tough game, it was when we went there last season. It’s a big pitch with an old-fashioned stadium. They’re a good side, we keep saying the same every week, we’re expecting a tough game because there’s no easy games in this league."
