Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley says the players will look to put the disappointment of Saturday’s defeat to Lincoln City behind them quickly.
The Grecians were beaten 3-0 at home – their first loss at St James Park since February 17. It was a tough defeat to take and Jayden admitted it will be a miserable weekend for all involved but they would put that behind them as soon as they get back to training on Monday.
“The lads want to get back on the training pitch now,” said Jayden.
“Obviously we will have our rest tomorrow, and there is not going to be any happy faces this weekend when you lose at home like that – it is going to be a bit of a miserable weekend – but as soon as we get back on the pitch we are going to forget about the result.
“That is what Matty prides himself on, win or lose, we forget about the result and do our best on the training pitch and that is what we will do. I am already looking forward to that game on Saturday. It is a chance for us to get those three points and get back up the league, as I think that is where we belong.”
Lincoln City took the lead in the 42nd-minute of the game, when John Akinde crossed for Lee Frecklington to fire home and then allowed the visitors to add a second in first-half stoppage time.
“We wanted to get in at 0-0 and reassess things,” said Jayden. “So we can blame ourselves today for some sloppy bits of play. It is disappointing and it is all quite fresh until we go through it on Monday and learn from it.
“The lads are really disappointed in the changing room. It wasn’t a good changing room to be in but we have got belief. We have had some disappointing results, back-to-back now, and this is where you see the character of a side and how they can bounce back from it.”
