Matt Taylor has picked an excellent time for his side to hit form. Saturday's 3-1 victory over Cheltenham Town was not only City's third win in a row, but it also went down in Grecians' history when, in the 88th minute, Jonathan Forte bagged the 1,000th goal under supporters' trust ownership.
Today's featured goal, No. 9️⃣9️⃣8️⃣ under The Trust, is sponsored by Grecian Goal.
With City trailing at half time following a lacklustre first half, Taylor tweaked his side in an effort to inject some new energy after the restart. It paid dividends just a minute later, as Pierce Sweeney rifled a contender for goal of the season to spark a fantastic City comeback.
Good work out on the left wing by Nick Law saw him set up Dean Moxey for a cross from the byline. Moxey's cross could only be cleared to the edge of the box by the Cheltenham defence, where Sweeney was waiting to hit a first-time half-volley into the bottom corner of the net. The Irishman's effort so sublime, it was a contender for Sky Sports Goal of the Day.

Grecian Goal is a way of raising funds for specific Club projects. For instance supporters may pledge to pay £1 every time we score a goal, or if Christy saves a penalty, last season our biggest money spinner was for balls going out of the ground. In this way we raised £4,000 which we used to sponsor the magnificent City crest on the front of our new Stagecoach Stand and made a substantial donation towards the handrails in the IP Office Main Stand.
If you'd like to join us please contact Elaine Davis via email at: eadavis5@hotmail.com. And well done Pierce - 998 was a great goal!
All sponsorship money will be used by the Club's Marketing and Media team to enhance the camera and sound equipment used regularly in the short films and interviews on the Club website.
