Exeter City Ladies are set for a big match in the South West Women’s Football League Premier Division when they take on promotion rivals Callington Town.
City Ladies sit second in the table, seven points behind leaders Keynsham Town Development with two games in hand.
However, Callington Town – having played the same number of games as City – sit just three points behind them in the table and are still very much in the title race having only lost once this campaign.
Speaking about the game joint manager Abbie Britton, said: “It is the biggest game of the season for us. If we lose, we are out of the title race.
"If win we can close the gap and it is back in our hands.
“We have won our last two matches, but having not played much over the last couple of months it will be important that we approach the match right and get off to a good start and we could do with plenty of support to spur us on to victory.”
It is also honours even between the two sides this season in terms of games played against each other. City won the Women’s FA Cup match 5-2 in August, with goals from Jana Richards (2), Sophie Gillies, Abbie Britton
However, the league match in September saw Callington win 3-1 on City’s patch.
“They are a good side,” added Abbie. “Having only lost once in the league this season – on the opening day of the campaign against last season’s champions Marine Academy Plymouth – we are well aware of the threat they will pose.”
Kick-off at Ginsters Marshfield Parc, Callington (PL17 7DR) is at 2pm on Sunday and entry into the game is free of charge.
