Police are appealing for witnesses of an alleged incident of verbal racist abuse at an Exeter City FC match this week.
Police are investigating a report that a racist comment was made to a black player with Northampton Town FC by a member of the public during Exeter City FCās home EFL Trophy fixture verses Northampton Town on Tuesday 8 December.
The incident occurred in the 91st minute and the comment is believed to have come from someone in the Stagecoach Stand.
Specialist officers from Devon & Cornwall Police are working with both clubs and other partners to fully investigate the incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the comment being made.
Anyone with any information which could assist police enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference number CR/103070/20.
Exeter City continue to support the investigation and will take the strongest action towards any guilty party.
