With the football almost back, albeit behind closed doors, we are pleased to say that the Foundation keeps on rolling along.
Congratulations to Barry Wilson, who is June’s big winner of a cool £1,000, although he kindly donated part of his winnings back to the Club. Barry is in the process of buying a new house so his winnings will contribute to that.
Barry’s experiences in supporting Exeter City go back a while, in his own words: “I have been a season ticket holder for about 25 years now and have witnessed many highs and lows over the 50 plus years, after my father took me to my first game at SJP.
"I don’t remember too much about that first season other than, despite the fact I had a voucher for a ticket, my father would not let me go to the FA cup game against Manchester United. What a disappointment!
"One of my earliest memories is of the following season and watching City beat Swansea 6-0 under the floodlights. Some other memorable games include the 1980-81 cup run, the playoff semi final against Torquay, and the final itself, celebrating promotion the following season at the Don Valley stadium, then actually getting to see Manchester United at St James Park, albeit some 36 years after that initial occasion.
"My favourite players over the years include, Fred Binney, Tony Kellow, Alan Beer, Jimmy Giles, John Delve, and more recently Stanno and Ollie Watkins.”
