Football will return to St James Park on Monday, June 22 as Exeter City face Colchester in the second leg of the play-off semi finals.
But there’s going to be one vital thing missing – yes, that’s you, our loyal supporters. The last play-off games have attracted huge crowds to the stadium – but this year things are a little different with the match being played without fans due to the impact of coronavirus.
While you’re watching from home, we want you to still feel part of the action, so we’re offering you the chance to get your face in the crowd and support our club with our Grecian in the Ground campaign.
Until Thursday, June 18 at 9pm you can order your own cutout for £25 which will be placed in the stands for the play-off game on Monday, June 22 and any future matches which have to be played behind closed doors. And when we can all return safely to SJP, we’ll arrange for you to collect your cutout, which will have been signed by a member of the squad, or you’ll be able to pay to have it posted to your home.
The cutouts are made from polypropylene and are completely recyclable. The material is toxin-free so it won’t leach chemicals into the surrounding environment, additionally, it is durable, strong and weatherproof.
Exeter City marketing manager Scott Palfrey said: "Coronavirus has had a huge impact on football clubs across all leagues, and Exeter City is no different, with the loss of matchday revenue hitting our finances hard. This Grecian in the Ground campaign is an opportunity for fans to support their club, and ensure they’ve got their face in the crowd for the play-off game and any future games which have to be played behind closed doors.
"This is one way people can be sure they’re keeping their seat warm and helping the club to replace some of its lost match day revenue. So, get out your hats and scarves and get snapping and let’s create an amazing spectacle for the TV cameras which really demonstrates what a community club we are.’
Scott added: "And with Father’s Day on the Sunday before, we reckon it would make the perfect and unique present for football-loving dads!’
Orders were taken until 9pm on Thursday June 18 for Monday's match. Orders placed after this time will be used if subsequent games are played behind closed doors next season. Exeter City cannot take responsibility for any cutouts which may be damaged during a match.
