The history team at City has been using time provided by the Coronavirus lockdown to create new ECFC related content, and to fill in some of the gaps in the historic record of the club.
One activity being undertaken, is the compilation of a unique list of everyone who has worn the red and white of the Grecians but not played in a First Team League or Cup game.
For some time now The Grecian Archive website has detailed a complete list of all the first team players to have played for the club since 1901. But now in an ambitious move the historians want to extend the reach to anyone who has officially worn an Exeter City shirt.
"This will be a fabulous community resource providing long lost information and in many cases powerful memories and family pride," said Paul Farley who is leading the project for the ECFC Museum and Grecian Archive.
We want to list anyone who has worn the City shirt in an official match. This can include friendlies, testimonials, reserve, youth and other games. It may be a triallist who played just a few minutes or an amateur who played for the reserves or A team for year.
Over 1600 people have already been put on this new list but it is believed that at least double this number must have played for City in one way or another over the years.
The current list can be seen by clicking here.
If you can provide information on players not already on the list this will be eagerly welcomed. Please send any information you have to: historygroup@ecfc.co.uk.
