The winner of the Exeter City Foundation’s BIG £1,000 prize for April is David Collinge.
David was born in Exeter but now lives in Sunningdale, Berkshire, so his visits to the Park now are strictly limited. Here are some of David’s memories of supporting the Grecians over the years:
“I supported Exeter as a boy and my first memory of watching City was from the Directors Box - not many of us can say that - but that’s what it was, literally a box! My Dad was the manager of Martin's Bank (now Barclays), so corporate interest and support of football is nothing new.
I can remember watching Arnold Mitchell (the captain) - the crowd used to tell him to 'chalk his cue' when he missed a header as he was bald! The best player I ever saw was Alan Banks. Did he ever miss scoring? The most exciting game I attended was the second leg of the semifinal of the Conference playoffs at Oxford when Stanno scored the equaliser and Tully scored the winning penalty in the shootout.” Good memories!
