Exeter City Manager Matt Taylor reflects on a difficult evening in Cumbria as the Grecians fell to a 2-1 defeat.
On the game, Matt said it was “A scrappy, messy game with very little quality in it”, on the flow of the game he added “it was stop start, you felt how many times it went out.”
Reflecting on the first half, Matt said “I’m really disappointed with the goal at half time. You go in behind where it was an even encounter… then you’ve got to chase the game in the second half.”
On his substitutions, Matt reflected, “when we changed shape, we got more joy. But we didn’t get enough out of the three centre forwards on the pitch at the end of the game. When balls are in and around certain areas of the pitch.”
On the second goal, Matt said “I’ve got no problem with conceding that second goal, we had three centre forwards on the pitch, it was the first one that was the defining moment.”
