Exeter City Football Club can confirm that academy graduate Joel Randall has signed for Championship side Peterborough United for a substantial undisclosed fee.
As always, the club has negotiated a sell on fee should Joel progress further in his career, but the substantial transfer fee must remain undisclosed.
Joel leaves St James Park after 45 appearances and following his breakthrough season in red and white in the 2020/21 campaign during which he scored ten goals, taking his total to the club for 13.
The 21-year-old graduated from the academy made his City debut in 2017 and following loan spells at Tiverton, Taunton, Bideford, Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth to aid his development as a player, cemented his place in Matt Taylor’s squad in the last campaign.
Perhaps Joel’s most memorable game in City colours came in November 2020, as he scored his first ever career brace in the Grecians 3-2 win at Gillingham in the FA Cup second round.
One of Our Own, Joel joins the likes of Ollie Watkins, Matt Grimes, Ethan Ampadu and Christy Pym is making the leap up the football pyramid. This transfer once again highlights the successes of the pathways available for young players via the Exeter City academy, in which Joel showed outstanding progression through the age groups.
Everyone at the club is extremely grateful to Joel for his contribution and would like to wish him all the very best for his future career.
