We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Cameron Dawson on a season-long loan from League One side Sheffield Wednesday.
26-year-old Dawson made nine appearances in the Championship last season, but appeared 50 times in his previous two campaigns for the Owls, and is best known by the Hillsborough faithful for his penalty save in the Steel City derby against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in 2018.
In January 2020, Dawson signed a new four and a half year contract with the club and continued as a first team regular until the season was halted by the pandemic, ending with 24 matches under the belt.
A local Sheffield lad who stands at 6ft 4, he made his debut for Wednesday in 2013 after coming through the youth team and spent his early days on loan, firstly with Plymouth Argyle, then Alfreton Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Chesterfield, so already has experience in League Two.
City boss Matt Taylor said: "We were looking for a bit of experience - that experience at a higher level - and we're going to give him the opportunity to play as many games a possible and also influence the team.
"We had to be patient to make sure we got the right fit which we felt would suit our team - that backline or unit so to speak - and Cam is the right man for that."
