With just ten days to go until the new surface at St James Park gets it's first full test, Exeter City head groundsman Chaz has provided his latest update on the progress.
The Grecians will face Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, July 31 in a 3pm kick-off and Chaz is looking foward to seeing the new pitch in action.
"We've got really good root growth already. We had the Sports Turf Research Institute in yesterday who did tests and are very happy.
"It's a few shades of green away from where we are going to get to but we've got to get those roots down and the only way to do that is to stressing the plan a bit to hold back on the water and fertilizer so the roots go looking.
"We are anticipating the first game and are confident it will play well, and differrently and it will be interesting to get feedback from the manager and players on how they feel about it and how different it is to the old surface."
