Matt Taylor is looking forward to Exeter City’s pre-season campaign getting underway, with our trip to Weston-super-Mare first up on Tuesday evening.
“It’ll be a young team to start with on Tuesday night,” Matt said.
“We’ve got to be mindful of last week’s work and look after the senior players early on - they may get a few minutes later on Tuesday, but everything is geared towards Friday for us.”
“That’ll be the game where we get the more senior ones on the pitch.”
Tuesday’s game is the first of a busy pre-season schedule. Which Matt says is important to ensure the team gels before the new season kicks off on August 7th.
“We will then start building and building like we always do in pre-season. There’s lots of games and they’re important because of lots of new players coming in and some young players signing on as well.
“It’s important they get used to the systems and the way we play. They also have to get to know each other and there’s no better way of doing that than a heavy pre-season schedule.”
