Sunday’s visit of Liskeard Athletic will complete three games in seven days for the Exeter City Women’s team.
Last weekend’s victory over Portishead Town was enhanced with a resounding win over Bideford on Thursday, as the Grecians forward players took centre stage in a thirteen-goal victory.
Liskeard Athletic are a newly formed team that have emerged from the demise of Callington Town. The Cornish side will be competing in only their second game on Sunday, winning their first ever fixture by ten goals to two against Signal Box Oak Villa. Under the Callington badge, the team visited Exeter as recently as April, the Grecians winning by six goals to one in a friendly fixture. Players who impressed in that game are set to feature for Liskeard on Sunday, such as goalkeeper Sara Rowe and forward Amy Hemingway, who hit four goals against Oak Villa last weekend.
With a strong twenty player squad all participating in Thursday’s win over Bideford, Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley will look to rotate the squad once more, as the need for game time will prove crucial before the National League kick off on August 15 against Poole Town.
Sunday’s game will also see the team return to Exeter, with the game taking place at the Sports Hub in Exwick. With City in dominant form at the Hub since the return from Lockdown it will prove an ideal opportunity for supporters to get a look at some of the summer arrivals and, hopefully, be entertained by another confident City performance.
