Young players at Exeter City's Academy will be able to tackle their simultaneous equations, as well as practice their set pieces, thanks to the club’s brand new sponsors.
Numerise, which is an online maths platform from Exeter-based Sparx, the socially-focused learning technology company, has become the new front of shirt sponsor of the Academy’s under-10 and 11 teams.
And the company has generously agreed to provide a log-in to the platform to all the members of the ECFC Academy – a total of 112 boys, aged between 10 and 16.
Arran Pugh, Academy Operations & Performance Manager, said they were delighted to receive “We are extremely grateful to Numerise for their support. These youngsters are the players of tomorrow and investments like this will make a huge difference. At Exeter City Academy we are focused on building well-rounded young men, as well as talented footballers and to be able to support their education through this sponsorship brings huge benefits."
Numerise was launched in April 2020 and initially supported students learning from home during the first lockdown. It was developed by Sparx to be an online home learning support for 10 to 16-year-olds, covering Year 6 to GCSE maths. Incredibly, it draws on a bank of more than 40,000 handwritten questions and 10,000 video tutorials and is designed to engage, motivate and support the learner. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver personalised maths learning to each learner which ensures every student progresses at a pace that’s right for them.
Dan Sandhu, CEO of Sparx said: “We all know that consistent practice is what will make a good footballer become outstanding and it is no different when it comes to maths. We know maths is hard and can fill a lot of learners with fear. So, we have designed Numerise in a way that breaks down tricky questions into simple-to-follow steps meaning that every learner can succeed. We are so excited to support the Exeter City Academy players and cannot wait to see their confidence in maths go through the roof.”
