Exeter City's Richard Knight has been shortlisted for the Supporter Liaison Officer of the Year at the Football Supporters' Association Awards.
Richard, who has been involved with the club since 1965, was appointed SLO in October 2012 and has worked tirelessly to improve communication with supporters and to make sure all visitors, both home and away have a smooth and enjoyable visit to St James Park.
His energy and enthusiasm for all things ECFC is well known by the clubâs supporters and he has volunteered in most areas of the club, from filling in as a Steward to working the Bars, running social events, and most recently taking a place on the Supportersâ Trust Board.
Richard is the first point of contact for supporters should they have any concerns or issues and was fundamental in taking the clubâs EFL Family Excellence status from not qualifying to obtaining the prestigious Gold status in 2020, where the club was second in League Two and eighth overall out of 72 clubs in the EFL. The club was also awarded the âAway Fan Experienceâ in 2019, being voted the best venue for away fans in League Two.
One of the standout moments of Richardâs tenure so far has been overseeing the clubâs Ambassadors service, seeing it grow from strength to strength and receive high praise for the way they go above and beyond to support all visitors to the Park.
On being nominated Richard said: âIâm honoured to be nominated for this award and to be on such an elite shortlist. Iâm now in my 10th season as SLO and in working with the club we have gone from strength to strength in improving the experience for all supporters that visit the club. â
Richard is up against Catherine Thomas of Swansea City, Jenny Hancock of Cheltenham Town, and Shona Groves of Millwall for the award, with the winner being announced at the annual awards dinner on November 27.
Good luck Richard!
