Exeter City Women's FA Cup Third Qualifying round fixture against Buckland Athletic on Sunday has been forfeited by the Yellows and will now not take place.
The Homers Heath side were unable to raise a side for a recent fixture at AFC Bournemouth and Sunday’s tie has sadly suffered the same fate. It will mean that City progress to the First Round of the Women’s FA Cup, with those round of fixtures set to take place on the weekend of Sunday, November 14.
After the huge success of last weekend’s game at St James Park, and the record attendance that it generated, it is a disappointment for the team to have a free weekend. Preparation will now turn to another big occasion at Swindon on Sunday October 31.
The National League fixture between the two sides has been switched to the County Ground. It will be another game at a Football League stadium for the team, in front of, what is hoped, will be a big crowd.
Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley’s team will next play at Speeds Meadow the following week, in a National League Plate Trophy tie, as Keynsham Town are the visitors. City will again have the opportunity to test themselves against higher level opposition in a competition, it is hoped, they can progress far in.
