Exeter City Academy under-16 Alfie Cunningham's stunning strike against Tavistock has been named YOUR Vospers Goal of the Month for March!
Midfielder Alfie, who is a student at our partner school, St Lukes, will be starting his scholarship in July and has been involved with the Wales national set up for a number of years. He will be joining up with Wales at the end of the month to face Spain, Turkey and Brazil.
Alfie's goal was a thing of beauty away at Tavistock in the Devon St Luke's Bowl semi-final on March 23. The midfielder picked the ball up in the middle third, turned the defender before he moved forward before unleashing a long-range bullet into the top corner, to send all 154 people in attendance into shock and awe.
Academy Operations and Performance Manager Arran Pugh was delighted to see Alfie win the fan voted award.
"It's amazing to again see the Exeter City fans show huge support to young players and another one of our own.
"Alfie will be starting his scholarship in July and as with all our young players he epitomises all the must haves that we look for in the academy and his the ability on top to match it.
"The Devon St Lukes Bowl has been a brilliant competition for our younger players this season, allowing the them to show what they can do against men. It's a fantastic experience for those young lads and beneficial for their development.”
