📝 Match Preview: Accrington Stanley (A)

Exeter City have the opportunity to put two defeats in a row behind them when they travel to the Wham Stadium to face Accrington Stanley this weekend.

The Grecians were defeated on penalties at Gillingham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night as well as losing 1-0 at home to Cheltenham last Saturday, while Accrington have had extra rest having not had a midweek fixture - they drew 1-1 at MK Dons last weekend.

Stanley have certainly been the entertainers in League One this season - their last home match ended 4-4 against Burton after scoring twice in stoppage time to snatch a draw, while they also scored a 98th minute equaliser against Charlton on the opening day, as well as facing a 23-kick penalty shootout with Tranmere in the Carabao Cup.

Wayne Carlisle's Thoughts

Assistant manager Wayne Carlisle has given his thoughts as City prepare to take on Accrington Stanley this weekend.

Carlisle continues to deputise for Matt Taylor who missed Tuesday's match following the birth of his baby, though he is hopeful the manager will return for the trip to the Wham Stadium to face a Stanley side who are yet to lose in the league this season.

"We are aware of their strengths in the last fifteen minutes," Wayne said, having discussed the late goals Accrington have scored this season.

"That is their character, they are not scared to lose the game to try and win it. On the flip side, they've conceded a few goals as well so there is opportunity at the other end of the pitch for us.

"We're not going to change our principle, we are what we are so we know what we're going to do."
